I have always loved to travel. My passion for traveling continued even after my little one was born. I have been to around 5 countries with her. As a first-timer, I made so many mistakes. I and my husband tried to pack like a pro for our first trip with the little one. Making lists, checking everything, we thought we were good to go. Little did we realize we had 3 handbags, a heavy stroller, and a cranky toddler even before we took off for our destination. Finally, after a lot of trial and error, I have compiled a list of 7 travel hacks that every parent needs to know:
1.FEED THEM TO AVOID EAR POPPING –
One thing I really hate while in flights is ear popping.Adults typically chew gum to help with the shift in altitude but that can’t happen with kids. The best way to help them is by feeding a bottle or using a pacifier for the time being.
2.USE ZIPLOCK BAGS –
Zip locks have to be the best invention ever. Be it for storing baby food, toys, formula milk zip locks are a blessing. Unlike containers, they don’t take a lot of space in your bag. I even store my little one’s crayons and a small book in a ziplock, I also store her extra pair of clothes in it, this way the stuff stays together and does not scatter.
3. USING TACKLE BOXES –
Of course, one way to store snacks are zip locks and they are great. But just in case you need to pack a variety of snacks then the best thing to use is a tackle box. A tackle box is basically a box with a lot of compartments to store different kinds of snacks for your kids.
4. DOWNLOAD YOUR KID’S FAVOURITE SERIES –
I know this sounds a little odd but trust me nothing can be worse than a super cranky toddler. I have been in the situation so I know. Often wifi at airports can be bad so always keep handy their favourite cartoon series on your phone or ipad for those times when a meltdown is near. My little one loves Peppa pig and trust me I have that stored on every gadget in my house.
5. DRESS THEM COMFORTABLY –
We all want our kids to look the best especially when we travel. But often we skip the thought of actually how comfortable the outfit is. While traveling always make your kids wear the most comfortable clothes.
6. ROLLING IS THE KEY –
Instead of folding the kid’s clothes, try rolling them up. It saves a lot of space and avoids creasing of the clothes too. I swear by this hack for my clothes too. Saves me almost half the space.
7. MINI FIRST AID KIT
While travelling with kids the most important thing to do is to carry a mini first aid kit. One can never be sure with kids. Stomach ache, a scratch on hand or mild fever are common while traveling. Carry their prescribed medicine to be on the safe side.( carry in a ziplock to avoid spillage)
