Tips to handle mood swings during pregnancy

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful phases in a persons life. Just like each person is different each pregnancy is different too. Just as the same, all know that each pregnancy is different. It’s very common to have mood swings during pregnancy due to fatigue, stress and hormonal changes that are happening inside the body. Not only these factors but apart from these, there are a million thoughts that go on inside the mind as well. Being a first-time parent can be really really nerve wrecking. How will things happen? What if they don’t happen how we want them to? who will help us out? Will we prove to be good parents? and a lot of questions like these contribute greatly to mood swings.

Every individual responds differently to these changes. Some moms-to-be feel a tsunami of emotions inside them while others feel almost untouched. For some, they feel over-emotional during the first trimester but tend to calm down by the second trimester, this is exactly what happened with me. For some, it just keeps happening on and off and this is the reason why one becomes a little unpredictable.

While some enjoy their pregnancy to the fullest, it can be a really stressful time for the others. On some days it might feel everything is happy and joyous and other days might feel like the most depressed time of your life. Coping with this can be really difficult. People around need to understand that the mom to be needs a lot of love, care, and assurance. From the fact that whether the baby will be healthy or not to the family’s finances, everything can create a panic situation.

I reached a point in my pregnancy where I just felt that I was really ugly. I started hating my own body. Something that I had never imagined. I had heartburn, backache, breathlessness and morning sickness to add to everything else.

THE EASIEST WAYS TO TACKLE YOUR MOOD SWINGS ARE –

1. DIVERT YOUR MIND

2. BOND WITH YOUR BETTER HALF

3. EAT WHAT YOU LIKE

4. GET ADEQUATE SLEEP

5. TALK IT OUT

I did these and felt so much better. It really gets overwhelming with so many thoughts in mind, your body changing, constant pressure but in the end, you will get the best present ever. With the constant support and love of your family and friends, nothing is too difficult.
