Teaching your child the effects of positive thinking

Babies come into the world with no worry, doubt or awareness about anything in their surroundings. Preserving the “clean slate” for life is impossible, they will fail as they learn but keeping a positive approach to every new thing is the most important fact.

Handling babies and toddlers gently, helping them feel secure in your care is a good place to start from. Singing and speaking in soft positive tones soothes even the most ruffled babies. Letting them know they are valued will be the foundation for positive self-esteem. For as long as you as a parent are not positive, it will be difficult to inculcate the same in your own child.

As your child grows, have faith in their ability to learn and perform challenging things. They might not make it through, they might fail but the best part about this will still be the fact that they tried.“You can do it!”  These words will go a long way. There is no need to be pushy with them. Encouragement is the key.

Preschoolers need to be prepared to deal with many kinds of children when they go to school. Most of the times this environment is opposite of what they have seen at their own house.  Play experiences will hopefully include playtime with kids of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and ethinicities. Yes, it gets challenging in the beginning for a few parents but the result is always positive.

The power of our thoughts has been recognized for centuries. What we think of, in our mind, eventually happens. Yes, that is how strong our mind is. Most of the times for the better, our thoughts literally determine who we become. Helping our own children understand this truth of life, adds awareness to the power that they already process but are unaware of.

A FEW WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN HELP YOUR LITTLE ONE DEVELOP POSITIVE THOUGHTS, YOUR WORDS LEAVE A GREAT IMPACT ON THEM, CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY

  • Smile and laugh. Allow others to do the same with you
  • Appreciate them and let them know they are doing well
  • Frame an advise in positive sentences/phrases
  • Be courteous in the way you talk
  • Speak well of all members of the family and friends
  • Teach them to say I will, I can quite often
  • Never be too pushy. Encouragement is the key

Starting of with all these will be a good start. A child always looks up to his own parents. Parents are a child’s role model. Be the way you want them to be. Act the way you want them to act.

I hope you liked my idea of positive thoughts and how to help children gain the same. Do let me know of your thoughts in the comments below.
